In November of 2020, GK released a digital platform that democratizes the online space for all state certified minority and women owned businesses in the Commonwealth. The platform has over 4,000 business profiles and growing. In 2021, we will drive a variety of community stakeholders to this easy-to-use marketplace as a hub to access valuable services from our racial equity partners.

GK Fund is developing an equity-based process that screens entrepreneurs and small businesses into stronger communities of support including access to additional technology, higher visibility opportunities, relationships with banking institutions and investors, and access to pre-screened high-quality accelerator programs. In an environment where so many BIPOC community members have been screened out of opportunity, GK founders are thinking creatively to disrupt these processes and screen in people for success.

Access to capital is a persistent and pervasive problem for BIPOC-owned businesses; COVID-19 has exasperated these problems. For a subset of businesses, GK will offer micro grants of $10,000 to BIPOC and Black owned companies who apply through the GK! Market on a monthly basis. Applications will become available in May of 2021.

The mission of the GK Fund is to close the wealth gap and democratize access to technology for BIPOC-owned businesses and emerging entrepreneurs with an emphasis on those owned by Black, Latinx, and Indigenous women, gender-nonconforming, and trans people.
